What makes the Case Logic Berkeley II a great GO BAG?

When you think about Case Logic bags, one would probably think of its range of serious, highly functional business bags. These days, Case Logic bags are turning heads from a different direction. From the young and vibrant.

Case Logic’s founding philosophy has always been to simplify life. Their bags? Always designed with the user in mind. This new head-turning attitude coupled with their firmly rooted philosophy, is bringing about a refreshing range of bags and colors that pop!

The Berkeley II Laptop + Tablet Backpack is one such bag. I personally think it makes a great GO BAG. (Read our blog on GO BAG) Its one of those get-up and go bags that you can count on to carry everything you need from attending lectures in uni or for that 6:30pm BodyPump class or even when you just need to getaway for the weekend.

Like most backpacks, the Berkeley II comes equipped with standard features such as a laptop and tablet compartment, an accessories compartment and side pockets for water bottles or umbrellas which makes the bag great for commuting about.

So, what makes this backpack a great GO-BAG? Here’s my review.

The model we are reviewing is in NIMBUS and it stands with a capacity of 29L. This bag retails at RM270.

Made from high quality and durable polyester. The backpack comes with over-sized zippers that provide smooth access.

If you are taking a flight somewhere, this bag makes a great cabin bag because the zippers are wide enough to attach luggage locks for extra security and its spacious enough to carry on a change of clothes, jacket, reading material, toiletries and your electronics. There’s also an additional handle at the base of the bag so that you can easily tug on it when you need to reach your bag from the overhead compartment.

Asymmetrical electronics organization panel neatly stores various sizes of electronics and school or office accessories with generous pen pouch to accommodate pens, highlighters and pencils. There’s also a designated zipper compartment for extra security.

Dedicated padded compartment for your 15.6” laptop and dedicated sleeve for your tablet. Notice how the shoulder straps overlap the laptop compartment? This design is an added security feature to prevent theft while you carry. Even when you’re not carrying, the shoulder straps become a hindrance to opportunist thieves. The articulating shoulder straps are also designed to easily fit different body sizes.

When commuting about or sight seeing, its important to make sure that your backpack offers you carry comfort and support. Removable, adjustable sternum strap offers extra support when lugging about heavy items. The closer the backpack remains at your back, the better your posture and comfort.

That’s not all. If you look carefully, there is even a cash-stash pocket on the back panel that cleverly provides hidden storage for money and ID.

This secret stash pocket is great for some lose cash and important documents such as passport, boarding pass…etc.

But what really stands out about this backpack is its suitcase style opening on the main compartment and how spacious this backpack is. Here’s me packing for the gym.

Packing for the gym: My sports tops from VIRUS, gym shorts and shoes from ADIDAS, gloves by BADBOY, my toiletries, Natural Style hair brush by Acca Kappa, towel, Everlast water bottle,  my purse and handphone and of course my BackBeat Go 3 headphones.

Suitcase style opening on main compartment allows high visibility for packing and easy access to items. Everything fits in the bag perfectly with room to spare for another change of clothes if needed.

Mesh side pockets conveniently store water bottles easily within reach. Neatly packed and ready for the gym.

So, there you have it. I would definitely give this bag a GO-BAG rating because of its spacious, suitcase style opening feature. Trust me, you will love this feature. Once you use this bag, you are gonna wish that all your backpacks have this feature too. It’s just so convenient.
